Dempster's Rule of Combination in Modal Logic

Abstract

A modal logic interpretation of Dempster's rule of combination is developed. It is shown that the model of modal logic, obtained by combining two finite models of modal logic, induces plausibility and belief measures, which are, in fact, the orthogonal sums of the measures, corresponding to the original models.

Keywords. belief measure, Dempster's rule of combination, modal logic, multivalued mapping, orthogonal sum, plausibility measure.
